Tour Guide/Museum Educator is needed 2-3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM) with an occasional weekend day for special events. You will guide visitors through on-site historical buildings sharing information on the life and political career of Governor David Stone, his home and furnishings and the Native American, African American and European inhabitants of the area. Training will be provided. A love of history and interest in the tri-cultural heritage of the area would be ideal. Fen Rascoe’s “Paint Out” – Thursday, September 21st
Historic Hope and the Bertie County Arts Council offer experienced plein air painters the opportunity to paint with accomplished artist Fen Rascoe. Spend a day of fun and creative expression capturing the beauty of the site as Fen leads the group through his demos and painting. Painters will gather on the grounds of the Historic Hope mansion with their supplies on Thursday, September 21st at 8:30 AM (the demo begins promptly at 9:00 AM) . Hopefully, the completed paintings will be hung at the Bertie County Arts Council Show, BERTIE: YESTERDAY AND TODAY on October 5th. The group is limited to 20 however, the public is welcome to come and observe free of charge. There is a $40.00 fee which includes lunch. Exploring Historic Graffiti & Folk Magic in Northeastern NC’s Early Architecture
On Saturday, April 29th, Reid Thomas, Restoration Specialist with the Restoration Services Branch of the State Preservation Office, and a member of our Friends Committee, will speak on Exploring Historic Graffiti and Folk Magic in Northeastern North Carolina’s Early Architecture. Most people are unaware that examples of historic graffiti can be found on the King-Bazemore house.
Please register and pay by April 24th. $20 per person which includes Presentation and Lunch.
