Outreach

Outreach is one of the Historic Hope Foundation’s primary objectives. We have an active school and educational outreach program and offer many opportunities for students of all ages.

With the goal of educating and interpreting Colonial and Federal era rural life in the South, the Foundation offers a number of educational resources:

  • Two restored and furnished historic homes, the circa 1803 Hope Mansion and 1763 King-Bazemore House
  • A functioning period kitchen
  • Nine marked trails
  • On-site picnic facilities
  • Ongoing projects in historic architecture and archaeology
  • A permanent exhibit “Plantations at the Crossroads” reflecting the blending of the Native Americans, African Americans, and European settlers in the region
  • A museum exhibit room featuring artifacts and interpretive exhibits
  • Accessible collections from 1700 through 1900
  • Classroom capacity for on-site instruction of up to 30 people
  • A comprehensive research library focused on North Carolina, regional, and local history
  • Lesson units for Fourth and Eighth grade curriculums
  • Meeting room capacity of up to 85 people
  • Staff ready to serve schools and educational groups.
  • An annual Living History Day for fourth-graders.
