Gay Baynes will present the 2025 Ives Lecture entitled “In Small Things Forgotten – Probate Inventories” on April 5th in the Roanoke Chowan Heritage Center. She will show how probate inventory records can authenticate and bring life to the restoration of historic homes and the people who lived in them. The King-Bazemore and Newbold-White historic homes will be used as examples. Gay is a professional genealogist (https://dogwoodgenealogy.com) and has worked on projects throughout North Carolina and Virginia.
Registration is at 9:30 am and Lunch will be available in the John E. Tyler Room at the conclusion of the event. There is a fee of $35 per person for the Lectures and Lunch.
