
14th Annual Family History and Genealogy Fair
Historic Hope Foundation’s 14th annual Family History and Genealogy Fair will be held on Saturday, August 9th in the Roanoke-Chowan Heritage Center. The title of this year’s program is “Connecting Your Ancestral Roots with Human Rights in the Roanoke-Chowan Region”. Ms. Jackie Ruffin-Pittman, in separate performances, will reenact Hannah Crafts of Bertie and Hertford Counties and Harriet Jacobs of Chowan County. Ms. Shropshire and Bonner will speak on “Golden Frink’s Leadership Role in Civil and Human Rights in Martin, Chowan, and Bertie Counties”. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 9:30 AM and the program at 10 AM. The registration fee is $20 which includes lunch. Preregister no later than August 7th. The Heritage Center is located at 132 Hope House Road just off highway 308 west of Windsor.
