11th Annual Family History & Genealogy Fair

Come and join us for the 11th Annual Family History and Genealogy Fair

We are excited to announce that we will be having our 11th Annual Family History and Genealogy Fair on Saturday, July 30th from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm. This event will be held in the Heritage Center at Historic Hope Plantation.

The purpose of the program is to discuss the diverse origins of families in Bertie County North Carolina from the late 16th century to their current genealogical connections throughout America.

9:30 am – Registration and Continental Breakfast

10:00 am – Introductions and Program “Who were some of the First Known Non-Indigenous Families Living in Bertie County in 1722?  

The largest Precinct in Chowan County, Bertie became a separate County in 1722. The 11th Family History and Genealogy Fair will focus on the Bazemore, Bunch, and other families who were living in Bertie County in 1722 when it was established. Russell Bazemore, Ph.D., Kathy Bazemore, and Marsha Fischer will focus on the Bazemore, Evans, and Hoggard families. Fischer will also conduct a fact-finding interview session. David Hoggard will use maps to identify the geographical location of some of the first non-indigenous families in Bertie County in 1722.

12:00 pm – Lunch Buffet ($15 per person)

1:00 pm – Scheduled Interview Sessions with Family Historians

There is NO CHARGE for the Genealogy Fair and Advance Registration is encouraged.

Lunch is available for $15 per person. (Please register for the lunch by Monday, July 25th – $15.00 fee to be paid via credit card or check. Checks should be made out to “Historic Hope Foundation”)
